Once upon a time, my radio DJ name Jay Cruz and I was on the coolest station in town. It was a fun and cool job playing EDGE Music but I enjoyed being behind the scenes and I became more interested in the programming and production side of the radio biz like station imaging and formatics.
I found this old air check tape while going through a box of memories. Job seeking DJs would send out to stations near and far as a demo of their broadcasting skills. Each cassette would be mailed out in a padded envelope along with a cover letter and resume so trips to the post office were a regular thing
Thanks to the internet, all you need today is a link to a demo on your website along with a social media presence but being a radio DJ isn't what it used to be.
