Once upon a time, I was on a morning show where, every now and then, I would sit down and interview famous people. My final question at the end of every interview was: "Can I touch your hair?" and it didn't matter how famous or distinguished the person was…no one ever said no.
One day, Julia Child was doing a cooking demonstration and a book signing at Sur Le Table in Dallas and I had arranged to interview her afterwards. Needless to say, Mrs. Child was delightful and charming and we had a wonderful chat. Julia was born on August 15, 1912 and today would have been her 100th birthday.
